BRIEF HISTORY
World service of mercy community based organized Kenya was formed as a result of the quest to address the need for the high influx of desperate migrants through Kenya transiting from west Africa and central Africa, parts of North Africa and the horn of Africa to Europe and America.
The main reason for the influx being political disturbances in their countries and economic issues. The main goal was to initiate mentorship program, which would provide the prospective migrants with better worldview that may help them understand that Africa can provide opportunities for prosperity too.
A group of about 13 people among them Alice Gatuhi and Macntile Nthusi came together and registered the organization and started to sensitize the young migrants that although their countries, are in turmoil they can be helped to engage in meaningful live styles which can make them even think to go back to their countries and start to rebuild themselves again.
As postulated in our mission and vision the organization has put in place several ways of achieving the goal. We have been using our members contribution which has not been enough to do all our programs as desired, and we have been struggling to implement the programs as we solicit for finances elsewhere to enable us to implement them fully.
The migrants refugees in Kenya need to be sensitised and assisted to the fact that they have different problems they are going through and can produce mental illnesses, disorders that affect the mood, thinking and behavior.
E.g: Depression, Anxiety disorders, Schizophrenia, Eating disorders and Addictive behaviors
